Lions are members of a world-wide service organization dedicated to hands on community service. We provide vision screening to children from 12 to 72 months, checking mostly for conditions that might lead to amblyopia, or lazy eye. We also screen children in grades 2, 4, 6, 8, and 9 in conjunction with the School Health Coordinator. We provide eye exams and glasses for adults who meet the criteria as well as for any child who needs glasses. We can help a mobile blind individual obtain a Leader Dog and an audio GPS free of charge. Besides our emphasis on sight (we are also known as “The Knights of the Blind”), we are also involved in the community, working with others to make it ever better. Given a bad enough disaster, we can obtain virtually immediate funds to assist recovery efforts.
