USDA Loans for Rural Businesses and Ag Producers

U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Sonny Perdue today announced that the Department is making available up to $1 billion in loan guarantees to help rural businesses meet their working capital needs during the coronavirus pandemic. Additionally, agricultural producers that are not eligible for USDA Farm Service Agency loans may receive funding under USDA Business & Industry (B&I) CARES ACT Program provisions included in the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act.

Genealogy Workshop

Join us for the 10th year of Genealogy Workshops hosted by Melissa Barker at the Houston County Library. As well as being a professional genealogist, Melissa is the Houston County Archivist.

Bring your research with you and get help checking out genealogy websites! Perhaps you will be able to break down a brick wall!  The Friends of the Houston County Library provide the pizza!

HC Historical Society

The Houston County Historical Society meets on the second Tuesday of the month at the Erin City Hall at 7:00pm.  Join us to learn about the history of Houston County!

On January 14, James Bridges will be presenting the
State of Houston County”.

City of Erin Trunk or Treat

The City of Erin will be hosting their Trunk or Treat in the Erin Square on Thursday, October 31.  Because of the weather, it has been moved inside from 5:00pm to 7:00pm.

 

 

 

King Puck

The Houston County Area Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring the Fourth Annual King Puck Contest.

When:  Friday, September 20 at 6:00pm.

Winner receives the title of “King Puck” with a ribbon and may be asked to represent Houston County Fair at various events during the year including the Irish Celebration Parade in March.

A Health Certificate (vet check) is required and will be paid for by the Houston County Area Chamber of Commerce.  Judging will be on beauty/handsomeness, accessories, personality/mannerisms, and audience response.
